This original lesson given by Phil Dunlap, Director of Education for Jazz St. Louis, illustrates how melody, rhythm and harmony all combine to add “flavor” to music. COCA Present: The Little Dancer
March 15, 2011 1 pm – This program focuses on COCA’s production of “The Little Dancer” and allows students and viewers to understand the work and choreography behind the performance. This program was partially funded by the Missouri Arts Council.
In 1923, Paul Heuduck and his family emigrated from Germany to America at the request of his employer, the Berlin mosaic and art glass firm Puhl-Wagner. Paul helped establish the Ravenna Mosaic Company, a joint venture between the St. Louis art glass studio owned by Emil Frei and Puhl-Wagner, to work on the Byzantine glass mosaics for the new St. Louis Cathedral. Filmmaker Jim Scott is interviewed then see the film “Worlds of Bright Glass: The Ravenna Mosaic Company.”
