At HEC-TV, we appreciate jazz year-round and the month of April is no exception. Jazz Appreciation Month is an excuse to participate in jazz-related activities AND introduce the genre to those less familiar. Fortunately, our city is home to a fantastic jazz community that offers the public many ways to appreciate the art form. If you want to know how you can celebrate JAM in St. Louis, look no further.
1. Watch the newest episode of I Love Jazz, that begins airing on Thursday, April 4. The show includes footage of a recent performance at Jazz at the Bistro by the group led by saxophonist Willie Akins and drummer Montez Coleman; a feature on the Sheldon’s recent exhibit of jazz-influenced work by famed cartoonist and native St. Louisan Al Hirschfeld; and more.
2. Host a jazz-themed party in honor of St. Louis’ own jazz greats Josephine Baker, Miles Davis, Oliver Nelson and Clark Terry.
3. Listen to locally produced radio jazz programming on WSIE-FM 88.7
4. Invest in the future of jazz by making a donation to the local nonprofit organization, Jazz St. Louis.
5. Visit Saxquest at 2114 Cherokee St. to buy, sell or trade unique vintage saxophones.
6. Watch Building Blocks of Jazz on HEC-TV and learn the fundamentals of jazz from local experts.
7. Visit the St. Louis Jazz Notes Blog for news, reviews, commentary and links related to jazz in St. Louis
8. Attend the 2nd Annual International Jazz Day Jam Session at Jazz at the Bistro on April 30.

10. See the Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour 55th Anniversary Celebration at the 2013 Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival on April 19 at the Touhill Performing Arts Center.
