A Chat with Crime Novelist John Sandford About His #1 New York Times-Bestselling Book Ocean Prey

Winning the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing in 1986 was the beginning of the end for writer John Sandford. “That actually was the end of my journalism career,” he says. Since then, the #1 New York Times-bestselling author has penned over 50 books. His latest, “Ocean Prey,” is the 31st in the Prey series. Fan-favorite heroes Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers join forces on a deadly Coast Guard case. Set in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the U.S. Marshal’s are called upon to add their unique expertise after the FBI’s investigation stalls out. Flowers goes deep undercover and underwater to help catch the killers. In his conversation with HEC Media’s Victoria Babu, Sandford describes his passion for writing, which he does every day. The prolific author doesn’t mince words about his conflicted feelings over guns and shares his disinterest in Hollywood, unlike his wife, screenwriter, Michele Cook. Together, they’ve co-authored three young adult novels.
