The ADL’s Torch of Liberty Award was established to celebrate those who, by word and deed, seek to preserve our heritage of liberty, freedom, equality and democracy. It recognizes those who particularly demonstrate courage, potency and commitment to building community. Noémi Neidorff’s history as an immigrant to the United States with her family in the 1950s define her personal impact on the arts, youth and education. It is this exceptional aspect of her identity that ADL seeks to highlight as we consider, during this singular time in history, the value of the immigrant experience and the special commitment to building community that new Americans influence daily.
