Baby Chimpanzee Born at the St. Louis Zoo is an Important Addition to the Chimp Population

    A new baby chimpanzee was born at the St. Louis Zoo this year. The baby’s mother is Utamu and her father is Kijana. Chimpanzees are critically endangered in their native Africa .The Zoo is dedicated to caring for chimpanzees both at the Zoo and through the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Institute Center for the Conservation of Congo Apes, which works with partners to help conserve chimpanzees and western lowland gorillas in their natural environments.
