ST. LOUIS, MO  – President and CEO of Delta Investment Services, Bob Hardcastle, presented a $6,000 check to the Alzheimer’s Association Respite Assistance Program Thursday, July 10. Every year, Hardcastle and his clients choose a charity to support. This year, Delta Investment Services chose the Alzheimer’s Association St. Louis Chapter.

Currently, more than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and a new case develops every 67 seconds. Hardcastle said they chose the Alzheimer’s Association as their charity because of the urgency of the disease and the need for support for those affected by it.

“If I had asked a room full of people 20 years ago if they knew anyone with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, I would only get three or four raised hands,” stated Hardcastle. “If I ask that question today, everyone in the room would raise their hands. Now, everyone knows someone who has Alzheimer’s.”

The donation is designated to the Respite Assistance Program, which provides caregivers with a much needed break or “respite.”

“Without some time off, a caregiver’s mental and physical health can become affected. Caregivers make heroic sacrifices caring for a loved one at home. The Respite Assistance Program provides the necessary relief,” said Stacy Tew-Lovasz, president/CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association St. Louis Chapter.

Tew-Lovasz said the support is needed more than ever due to Governor Nixon withholding state funds, which support the respite program.

“Bob’s donation will aid in propelling our mission forward. The Alzheimer’s Association is here to provide the programs and services necessary to support those affected by the disease,” added Tew-Lovasz. “It is the support of people like Bob and the clients of Delta Investment Services that will help sustain the Respite Assistance Program and allow for more families to receive assistance.”
