In 2022, the year of its 30th anniversary, Cinema St. Louis officially announced its plans to purchase The Hi-Pointe Theatre– whose 100th anniversary was coincidentally the same year. Perfect timing for such a monumental change. The pandemic disrupted many of the arts, and the movie theater business took a significant hit. With the Hi-Pointe owners deciding to step down, CSL has put in the work to purchase the theater and keep it running, as the nonprofit’s brand new executive director, Bree Maniscalco, takes the lead.
