Outside the Box, December 2015

This episode demonstrates how students and teachers are thinking outside the box…or should we say, what they can do with the outside of a box. Our show’s backdrop is The Sheldon Art Galleries where musical instruments made of boxes, bottles and other leftovers are made. It’s all part of the SOLID (Science of Learning Instrument Design) Music Project – an initiative developed by the Sheldon Concert Hall with input from Boeing, The St. Louis Science Center and St. Louis area schools. We also take you to a unique tutoring program that incorporates yoga with academics and a lunch initiative that has students on the flip side of the lunch tray – serving locally grown food to their peers.
