This morning, after attempting to complete my arduous homework for my summer finance class (it was quite unsuccessful), I hopped into my business casual attire and drove to a land far away.
Okay, not that far away; only about a 25-minute drive but you get the point.
The destination? HEC-TV: St. Louis’ Home of Education, Arts and Culture.
After recently completing my Sophomore year in the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, I decided it was time to get some real world experience, which leads me to where I am now.
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Claire Wright, Social Media and Marketing Intern for HEC-TV (did you catch the Jay-Z reference?).
So, you’re probably thinking: “What exactly does she do?”
Well, luckily, my daily routine changes constantly which makes the job exciting.
I work under Christina Chastain who is the Marketing and Strategic Partnership Coordinator for HEC-TV. My daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: updating the event calendar, writing news releases, posting on all of HEC-TV’s social media accounts, attending shoots and taking photos, writing blog posts (like this one), and assisting Christina with whatever else she may need.
I am a self-proclaimed news junkie so I really enjoy what I do here at HEC-TV. I realized my passion for news toward the second half of my high school career when I was the Executive Producer for my high school’s TV station. It dawned on me that journalism is what I wanted to pursue in college.
Aside from keeping busy in Mizzou’s J-School, I just completed my French minor and I am currently working on a Business minor.
When I am not hitting the books, I am either volunteering or fulfilling the duties required by the position I hold on my sorority’s Executive Council.
I am excited to see where the rest of my summer at HEC-TV takes me and share my new experiences with all of you.
Claire Wright
