First Person One on One with author Justin Driver, “The Schoolhouse Gate”

“The Schoolhouse Gate: Public Education the Supreme Court and the Battle for the American Mind” is the first book to trace the history and rulings on free speech, integration and corporal punishment in our schools as well as share students’ constitutional rights.
Education law professor, Justin Driver, is a self-described liberal but has written the book for those who don’t share his politics.
Driver, a former Supreme Court clerk for Sandra Day O’Connor and Stephen Breyer, believes the American judiciary has failed, citing school cases that have been at the center of much of our national discussion about religion, free speech, race, and privacy over the past 100 years.
