How to make your mama her own handy-dandy notebook

Are you ready for round 3 of DIY Mother’s Day gift ideas? This DIY notebook might be my favorite because it is just adorable and you can customize it…even put your own little note in for your mama!

    What you’ll need:

    • Cover weight kraft paper
    • White copy paper
    • Long arm stapler
    • Rotary paper cutter
    • Xacto knife
    • Metal ruler

Here’s how to make your own DIY notebooks:

    1. The notebooks are 4.25″ x 5.5″ (half sheet sized), so you can design your cover artwork in Photoshop so that it can fit two covers per page. (You can also have your little ones draw their own designs! Or use more materials to create 3D cover art such as yarn or bedazzles!) I printed the page on my color printer and cut it in half using the rotary cutter. Fold each piece in half with a hard crease to form the notebook cover.

    2. Cut 8-10 sheets of white copy paper in half, and fold the pieces in the middle with a hard crease as well. Nestle the white pages between the cover, making sure that the top and bottom edges of the paper are lined up correctly.

    3. Use the long arm stapler to add 2-3 staples along the crease of the cover to secure the notebook together. Trim any excess overhanging white sheets with an Xacto knife (using a metal ruler to guide the knife).
