First, vocalist Feyza Eren & her quartet – Adam Mannes on keyboards; Ben Wheeler on bass; & Steve Davis on drums – perform a variety of Jazz numbers including The American Songbook, Bossa Nova, Swing, and more. Raised in St. Louis with Turkish parents, she spent over a decade of her young-adult life in Istanbul, where her interest, love and talent in the jazz realm blossomed. Then, we celebrate our own recipient of the Jazz Journalists’ Association’s Jazz Hero Award – Don Wolff. On Building Blocks of Jazz, Phil Dunlap explores the connection between jazz and classical music.
