Kids Rock Cancer: I Am With The Band

For a few magical moments, kids undergoing the pain and emotional challenge of cancer treatment have a chance to step away from the daily routine and transform, from patient to rock star. Music therapy uses music experiences as a powerful force of change in a variety of clinical settings. Maryville University, which offers the only music therapy degree in our area, provides Kids Rock Cancer free of charge to children and their families. Medicine heals the body; music heals the soul. This benefit concert at The Sheldon Concert Hall featured Brian Owens, Erin Bode and Peter Martin. However, seven year old cancer patient Arianna Dougan was the star of the program, singing a duet with Erin Bode and earning a standing ovation.
