MoDOT Seeks Smart Highways with Pilot Sites for Smart Pavement & Internet of Things

The Missouri Department of Transportation is establishing pilot locations for smart highway proposals. MoDOT says its Road to Tomorrow Initiative is taking steps to add value to the state transportation system by enhancing its funding streams and helping MoDOT integrate 21st century technologies into its transportation system and services. The team is currently working with private sector partners to implement pilot projects to test solar roadways, smart pavement and Internet of Things. Kansas City-based Integrated Roadways is a startup company that won the bid for the Internet of Things pilot project. Integrated Roadways is hoping its smart pavement pitch will be the winning proposal for MoDOT’s Smart Highways pilot project.
