New Technology at Mercy Hospital St. Louis Treating Uterine Fibroids

A new minimally invasive treatment option for women with uterine fibroids has made its way into the operating room at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Mercy Hospital St. Louis is currently one of four hospitals in the country offering the new FDA approved procedure. It’s a technology called radiofrequency ablation, applying RF energy through small needles that are deployed from a minimally invasive Acessa probe. This outpatient surgery is an alternative to having a hysterectomy or myomectomy. Mercy’s Dr. David Levine is the only doctor in St. Louis performing the surgery.
