Operation Food Search: Hydroponic Gardens

Image having the ability to grow fresh vegetable and herbs in and out of season. Operation Food Search, a non-profit hunger relief organization, can now grow lettuce all year along. United Healthcare Community Plan of Missouri and Fork Farms donated two hydroponic gardens to serve families in crisis. The gardens are called Flex Farms. They’re energy-efficient, easy to maintain and utilize zero pesticides and herbicides. One farm can serve nearly 2000 families per year with a harvest of 3,400 plants. Access to healthy food is vital to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Families in crisis do not have the resources to buy food, and many do not have access to a grocery store. Operation Food Search partners with major grocery stores and other non-profit organizations to families in need.
