Outside In: Paint for Peace

Dr. Jacqeulyn Lewis-Harris is the curator of COCA’s newest and perhaps most widespread exhibition to date. She gives her insight into Outside In: Paint for Peace, which displays the sheets of plywood that were used to board up different businesses following the 2014 protests in Ferguson. Each of these boards is adorned with breathtaking murals that contain messages of hope, healing, and community that were painted by hundreds of artists and volunteers. These pieces will be displayed at COCA along with their partners at the Ferguson Youth Initiative, Gallery 210 at UMSL, the Missouri History Museum, the Sheldon Art Galleries, and Vaughn Cultural Center.
