Performing the Glass Menagerie Where Tennessee Williams Lived

The Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis is an annual event dedicated to enriching the cultural life of St. Louis by producing an annual theater festival and other artistic educational events that celebrate the art and influence of Tennessee Williams. During a global pandemic, “The Glass Menagerie”, was performed outside behind a history apartment building where Williams lived as child when his family first moved to St. Louis. Producing the Glass Menagerie was a momentous task because it was produced outside, turning a parking lot in a theatre. But the production crew performed it with grace just as the cast of the play did with their performance. The Tennessee apartment building is located on the corner of Westminster Place and Walton in St. Louis’ Central Westend. September 2021 marked the 77th anniversary of the play.
