Rescue Readers

    See how a reading program benefits kids and animals alike. Helping Strays animal shelter in Monroe county has a program for kids and soon-to-be pets, called “Rescue Readers”. Children of all ages visit the shelter and read to the animals. Kids brush up on their reading skills with an eager and nonjudgmental audience – while kids and animals alike enjoy the positive interaction. It has also helped boost adoption rates.
