Audiences at this year’s St. Louis International Film Festival have the rare opportunity to not only view a popular local documentary, but also see a live musical performance afterwards by one of the artists featured in the film.

Steve Scorfina, one of the key players featured in the documentary “Something in the Water” will perform following the documentary screening at the Wildey Theatre on November 24 at 6:30 p.m.

Scorfina, a former member of Pavlov’s Dog and REO Speedwagon, will be joined by former band mate Mike Saffron, as well as two members of his current band, Scorfina’s Soul Steel.

General admission tickets are $12 and can be purchased at cinemastlouis.org/something-water.DVDs of the film are available for purchase ($20), either at the event or by contacting the HEC-TV office at (314) 531-4455.

“Just like I quoted in the movie, Saint Louis is ground zero to rock and roll with such rich history of artists such as Chuck Berry and Ike Turner. I am honored to lend my rock and roll support to Producer Kathy Bratkowski and the ‘Something in the Water’ crew,” Scorfina said.

Scorfina previously took the stage at the “Something in the Water” premiere screening this past May at the Pageant. More than 600 people were in attendance for the event, which featured a rare jam session by Scorfina, Roger Boyd (Head East), Darren Walker (Head East), Danny Liston (Mama’s Pride) and Michael ‘Supe’ Granda (Ozark Mountain Daredevils).

    About the Documentary:

Directed by Emmy Award winner Kathy Bratkowski and edited by Emmy Award winner Barry Bruns, “Something in the Water” looks back at the unique set of circumstances that electrified the classic-rock music scene in St. Louis which lead the nation in the late ’60s and early ’70s. The HEC-TV exclusive documentary chronicles the advent of free-form radio at stations such as KSHE, the storied concerts at the Mississippi River Festival (MRF) and Superjam, and the area musicians who used St. Louis stages to reach a national audience. Featuring rare interviews, archived MRF concert footage, and photos from the musicians themselves, “Something in the Water” is a funny, honest, and unique account of “ground zero for rock and roll,” as told by those who played a major role in the emergence of classic rock in St. Louis.

“Something in the Water” airs on HEC-TV Fridays at 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 8 a.m. It can also be viewed online at hectv.org.
