The Doors of North St. Louis

The neighborhood known as Old North St. Louis isn’t the kind of place you think of when it comes to public art. But one local woman is hoping to change that. As a way of helping shut-in senior citizens cope with isolation from COVID-19, Rev. Dr. Paulette Sankora, founder and executive director of PEACE Weaving Wholeness, decided to bring together local artists, businesses and other community members to paint 30 residential and storefront doors. They hope these brightly-colored, decorative doors will help create a culture of well-being and community throughout the neighborhood.
