“The Last Diving Horse in America” by Cynthia Branigan

In the heyday of Atlantic City, diving horses were a main attraction. In this breathtaking spectacle, a horse and rider plunged off a 40-foot platform into a tank of water. When the act came to an end, author Cynthia Branigan, as a representative of an animal rescue group founded by Cleveland Amory, purchased one of the horses sent to auction. The book is the story of Branigan’s close connection to the horse and how saving him led her to a career in animal rescue.
