The Saint Louis Art Museum Updates its Oceanic Art Exhibit

Following renovations to the lower floor of the Saint Louis Art Museum, it has re-imagined its Oceanic art exhibit into a story of numerous cultures springing from the voyages of ancient seafarers from Southeast Asia, with a geographic exploration of art from the Pacific islands. While the strength of the collection lies in art from Papua New Guinea, pieces from other parts of Melanesia, the Solomon Islands, and New Zealand have found a home in the museum’s holdings. An exhibition on historical and contemporary Aboriginal art complements the Oceanic exhibit. For more information, go to www.slam.org.
