By autumn of 2019, the Sheldon will be adding an enormous hanging garden to their western exterior wall, as part of their new Steward Family Plaza. This elaborate metal sculpture will eventually be covered in flowering vines and lights, presenting a stunning display unlike anything else the St. Louis region has to offer. In preparation of this elegant expansion, the Sheldon Galleries is currently showing an exhibit focusing on hanging gardens from around the world. This exhibition not only helps to put their current architectural endeavor into context, but also illustrates the history of hanging gardens and highlight the science behind how they work.
