As 2025 winds down, it’s a natural time to reflect on the past year and turn our attention to what lies ahead. What will the new year bring?
Some major events coming up include the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Expect nationwide celebrations for America’s semi-quincentennial! Italy will host the Winter Olympics, and North America will be home to the FIFA World Cup.
2026 is also the Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese Zodiac. This means a powerful, transformative year, bringing passion, change, and a mix of chaos and progress. It is predicted to be a year of breakthroughs and innovation in areas of AI and medicine. The new year is a time to chase dreams and think big.
The prophecies of Nostradamus (written in the 16th century) predict political disturbances, wars, and global changes. One particular passage mentions a swarm of bees that will come out at night. Many believe the bees refer to rulers, empires, or organized political entities. Interestingly, there is also a positive note about rebirth following crisis.
Numerology experts suggest 2026 will be a dynamic year and a major reset. Similar to the Chinese Zodiac, they say it’s a time to prioritize goals and follow desires. It’s a time for new beginnings and fresh cycles. Numerologists say that planting seeds and bold actions will begin rewriting destinies.
The new year is always a time to set annual goals. Resolutions require stick-to-it-iveness, and it can be tricky to persevere. Studies show that fewer than 10% of resolutions come to fruition. But there are ways to make them more attainable.
Often, these resolutions are not specific enough. Saying you want to become fit or more financially responsible is vague. Instead, it’s better to put these goals in more quantifiable terms. Instead of getting in shape, you may want to be able to run a mile or two. Rather than simply being better with money, it may work better to take concrete steps. Tracking spending, budgeting, and saving a predetermined amount can all be smaller goals to help achieve the overall objective.
Other ways to help achieve success include making yourself accountable. Find a friend or family member who will support your goals and dreams. And when missteps happen, and they will, just keep moving forward. Another key is to focus on one thing at a time. Having too many goals can be overwhelming and daunting.
The new year is prophesied to be a year of renewal and rebirth. Let’s all welcome 2026 with optimism and hope.
