Why We Swim with Bonnie Tsui

New York Times contributor Bonnie Tsui’s latest book “Why We Swim” will have you grabbing your swimsuit and goggles while searching out the nearest body of water. Her journalistic work combines incredible stories of record breakers and survivors with interesting history and science all to answer the book’s title. In this conversation, we talk about her work to track down and chat with the book’s varied characters, the extreme research she did (including swimming without a wetsuit in San Francisco Bay’s 56° water) and an ancient, influential form of swimming that would have been highlighted in this summer’s Tokyo Olympic Ceremonies. Fair warning: your friends might get tired of you saying, “Did you know…” after watching this interview!
