Now on view at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis is Paul Chan’s Breathers exhibition. Once known to be a video artist, Chan uses items commonly used in the video industry to create sculptures. Chan’s work entails electrical wire, projectors plugged into cement-filled shoes, and industrial fan powered fabric bodied sculptures to examine the possibilities of the moving image beyond the screen or projection. Currently on view is also an example of Chan’s publication press, Badlands Unlimited, which include books, zines, erotic fiction, and more. This exhibition will run until August 11, 2024.
