For over a decade, HEC Media has partnered with the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, helping bring educational discussion programs to the public. That collaboration continues August 27 when HEC shines a light on the annual event Seeds of Change that will once again take center stage.

Hosted by the Danforth Leadership Council, Seeds of Change is an event for participants to network and learn. A visiting thought leader guides the discussion, and this year’s program features renowned conservationist Dr. Cary Fowler, who will present “The Future of Food Security: Think Transformation.” Topics include safeguarding agriculture, crop diversity, and the challenges of feeding a growing population. 

A prominent figure in international food security, Dr. Fowler is an author and expert on the subject. While his professional accomplishments are too vast to list, highlights include being the recipient of the 2024 World Food Prize and leading the Food Security Leadership Council. Fowler’s expertise is featured in the documentary “Seeds of Time” and within the news program “60 Minutes.” Perhaps most importantly, he presides over the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, an Arctic facility that safeguards over 1.3 million seed varieties. 

Dr. Cary Fowler and the Seeds of Change event dovetail perfectly into the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center’s mission of improving the human condition through plant science. From hunger and malnutrition to carbon emissions and poverty, plants are helping solve humanity’s most pressing challenges.
