Teaching Children Financial Literacy with “Savannah’s Savings Jar”

27-year-old Chelsea Addison was inspired by her second grade class to write “Savannah’s Savings Jar,” her first in a collection of six books to help parents teach children financial literacy. The book talks about goals, entrepreneurship, return on investment, etc.
Through the Teach for America program, Chelsea taught second grade in the St. Louis City public school system for three years. It was during that time she began writing her first book. Addison says kids can learn about finance at an early age and put that knowledge to use right away. Chelsea serves as Vice President of the University City School District Board and is pursuing a PhD.
