Bobby Bostic started writing poetry for the same reason that many teenagers do: to impress a girl. But Bobby was composing his poem from a prison cell.
Bostic had been sentenced to 241 years after being found guilty of multiple crimes – including armed robbery – that he had committed at the age of 16. His first chance at parole would be after serving 112 years.
Encouraged by his fellow inmates to keep writing, Bobby’s pastime became a passion. He used his talent to write multiple works as well as to appeal for the chance at parole within his lifetime. After 27 years of being incarcerated, Bobby walked out of prison as a published author, a college graduate and not-for-profit founder.
