New Circus Flora executive director named

    As they usher in their 30th year, Circus Flora, is pleased to announce it has appointed Larry Mabrey as its next executive director. Mabrey assumed the role last week and will work in collaboration with Jack Marsh who continues as Artistic Director of the circus.

    Board President, Ken Christian, remarked, “After an extensive search we are thrilled to have found Larry Mabrey. His 30 plus years of experience in performing arts and non-profit management directly aligns with the Circus Flora mission and the board’s vision to continue as a premier performing arts organization in the region.” Christian continued, “Larry’s financial, strategic, and leadership skills will bring enormous value to the circus. We are very fortunate he came home to St. Louis.”

    Larry Mabrey said, “I am very pleased to be joining the impressive and dedicated team at Circus Flora. I look forward to taking part in the important work of this iconic organization and continuing to build strong partnerships with our St. Louis business and arts communities.”

    Mabrey recently returned to St. Louis from West Virginia where he was executive director at West Virginia Public Theatre. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and former producing artistic director of Avalon Theatre Company in St. Louis and consulted in artistic and operational management for several theatre companies. He holds a BFA in Theatre Arts from Stephens College and has completed the coursework for his MFA in Arts Management and Leadership. Additionally, Mabrey spent six years as the Director of the Center for Professional Development at Webster University.
