We continue the Best of HEC-TV 2012 series with an episode of I Love Jazz that hits all the right notes! I Love Jazz is a magazine-style program based on Don Wolff’s popular jazz radio show that showcases his depth of musical knowledge and appreciation of the historical jazz tradition.
The I Love Jazz program that aired in August was selected Best of HEC-TV 2012 for its all-around embodiment of the lively jazz scene that St. Louis offers.

The program was shot from Three Sixty, the rooftop bar perched on the 26th floor of Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark. Considered one of the best rooftop venues in the nation, 360 offers patrons a bird’s-eye view of the city, supurb food and drink, and an atmosphere that is unique to St. Louis. Aside from its popularity, 360 was a perfect location to shoot this I Love Jazz show also because the Hilton’s avid support of jazz plays an important role in our region that keeps jazz music vibrant and available to everyone.

The feature artists of the program are artists that have roots that run deep in this region. From a performance captured at Jazz at the Bistro in July, husband and wife team of pianist Reggie and vocalist Mardra Thomas make jazz music together that you won’t want to miss!

The program continues its exemplification of St. Louis’ jazz community through its coverage of the inaugural jazz festival in University City. The event was a mixture of music, food and fun where local and national renown artists performed a cultural array of jazz music. The festival also provided an educational experience for students and amateur musicians with a multicultural jazz clinic, hosted by Washington University.
