Currently on view at Kranzberg Arts Foundation’s The Gallery is Ken Konchel’s photography show titled In Place of Context. Ken Konchel identifies as an Abstracted Architectural Photographer. Konchel’s main point of focus in his photography practice is architecture and the power of buildings. He states, “Provocatively capturing architecture in an abstract, graphic way keenly interests me. My intention is to make compelling photographs that remove the context and distill architecture to nothing but relationships of shape, line, pattern, detail, tone and/or texture.” Konchel heavily relies on the usage of light and shadow. He speaks about how the time of day really impacts his work. Ken Konchel is an award-winning photographer and well recognized in the Midwest region.
