Missouri Schools Use Education-Based Telehealth Platform to Get Answers to Tough Policy Questions

The move to virtual learning has been challenging for both parents and school leaders. The University of Missouri School of Medicine is offering a statewide resource to help inform tough decisions through its telehealth initiative called COVID-19 and Kids ECHO. The online network allows school nurses, superintendents and school board members from around the state to link via videoconference with pediatric health experts from hospitals and institutions in Missouri.
During the hour-long sessions, participants and experts tackle tough questions. Kristin Sohl, MD, president of the Missouri Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has helped lead the weekly sessions. So far, school leaders have logged on from 67 counties in Missouri, including several schools and school districts in the St. Louis metro area.
