Dr. Diana Parra Perez is an Assistant Professor at WashU’s Prevention Research Center, from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Parra Perez had a leading role launching WashU’s new Mindfulness Science and Practice. The idea is to transform the science of mindfulness through pioneering collaborative research.
WashU’s Mindfulness Science and Practice cluster brings together a diverse set of researchers, scholars and mindfulness practitioners that represent a wide range of university departments. The goal is to produce innovative research while applying a critical scholarly lens toward what has been termed the “modern mindfulness movement.”
The collaborative research program is dedicated to mindfulness with members from business, cognitive science, medicine, public health, education, social work etc., including researchers.
Mindfulness is a set of mental training practices and skills that can be used to improve health, wellness, and psychological functioning.
